St. John the Baptist Church took care of the spiritual and liturgical needs of these Kerala Catholics. Prior to the formation of Kalyan Diocese, under the auspices of KCA, there used to be a Qurbana in Malayalam once a month at St. John’s the Baptist church. This Qurbana was celebrated with the help of CMI fathers who visited Thane from Mumbai. Thane Catholics remember with gratitude the hard work and dedication of CMI fathers.
After the declaration of Kalyan Diocese in 1988, the new parish of Syro-Malabar St. John the Baptist Church came into existence. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kalapura was appointed the first Parish Priest. In the absence of having own place of worship, celebrations like Christmas Mass, Christmas Carol, the feast of St. Sebastian, Parish Day and Easter Sunday are conducted solemnly every year either at Holy Cross Convent’s chapel or at St John the Baptist Church Auditorium. Sisters of Adoration Convent helped us to conduct the Catechism classes initially which are now being handled completely by Parishioners. The community with its concerted effort purchased a flat opposite St John’s church in 2010 and converted into a prayer hall which was christened as Holy Trinity Church during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Davis Tharakan as the Priest in-charge. During the tenure of Fr. Shinto Vallanattu, St. Mary’s Church, Kalwa, merged with the Holy Trinity church on the 13th October, 2013. The church currently has a membership of 117 families.

ShajiParickappallil, Fr. Shinto Vallanattu and Fr. Shijo Parayil. Fr. Jomon Thekkumthala took charge as the parish priest from 09th February 2017.
