In the early 1950’s large number of Syro-Malabar catholics migrated to Marouli and surrounding areas like Mahul, Shankar Dev Vasinaka and Chembur Colony. They were bound to their faith and traditions of St. Thomas Christians. Till the establishment of the Diocese of Kalyan they celebrated the Holy Qurbana in Malayalam on the 4th Sunday of the month and rest of the celebrations they participated at St. Sebastian’s Church, Marouli. In 1997 the Church got a flat as a donation from a well wisher and St Mary’s Church was started at this place. In 2004 an adjacent flat was purchased by the church and completed the construction of the Church on 25th Jan 2005. Mar Thomas Elavanal blessed the centre.
Since then there is regular Holy Qurbana on Sundays and Holy Qurbana and Mother Mary’s Novena on Wednesdays. We celebrate the feast of St Mary and St Sebastian every year in grand manner. Pious associations like Pithruvedi, Mathursangham, Youth, Choir, Karunya Trust and Catechism classes are functioning actively in our Church. Priests served in our Church are the following: Rev. Fr. Jacob Porathur, Rev. Fr. Job Akkanath, Rev. Fr. Joy Punnakkuzhy, Rev. Fr. Xavier Kadaplackal, Rev. Fr. Cyriac Chandrankunnel, Rev. Fr. Sunny Perumpuzha, Rev. Fr. Jacob Edakalathoor, Rev. Fr. Justin Kallely, Rev. Fr. Benny Ezhormattam, Rev. Fr. Shaibu Malethadathil, Rev. Fr. Mathew Maniamkery, Rev. Fr. Paulose Chackalakal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Maliakal, Rev. Fr. Jose Adapoor , Rev. Fr. Bibin Chenothuvatukulam, Rev. Fr. George Kalarimuriyil. Currently Fr. Aneesh Thadathil serves as parish priest.
