By the erection of Diocese of Kalyan in 1988, unity of the Syro-Malabar Catholics called for a greater outlook and dimension. Consequently many good Samaritans came forward to devote their time and efforts to form a Syro-Malabar Centre at Worli. The dream realized in November 1989 and was called St. Thomas Church.
It is said that the fruit is sweeter, when the task is difficult. There are many priests who put their heart and mind to carry out the difficult task of forming a full-fledged Syro-Malabar parish at Worli.
Now this small yet noticeable parish is progressing under the guidance and support of Rev. Fr. Thomas Kannampally. We are thankful to Sacred Heart Church as well for their co-operation and support. Under the pastoral care and dynamic leadership of different fathers at different times, the Worli parish grew to what it now stands to be. We are around 25 families, excluding bachelors. We have a well-established committee, Catechism, Mathrusangam, church choir and altar boys. We rejoice in celebrating our St. Thomas Day, Parish Day, Faith Formation day, Christmas, Easter, Rosary Month, All Souls Day, Mothers Day, St. Alphonsa’s Feast, and so on and on.
Well attached to the diocese, we see ourselves growing as one body in Christ. The priests who served us are the following: Rev. Fr. Vakkachan Thattuparambil, Rev. Fr. Paul Madan, Rev. Fr. John Kizhukarakattu, Rev. Fr. Jose Aloor, Rev. Fr. Joseph Areeckathundathil, Rev. Fr. Francis John, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Varikkamackal, Rev. Fr. George Chittilapilly, Fr. Babu Kakassery, Rev. Fr. Boby Mulakkampilly, Rev. Fr. Abhraham Kollithadam, Rev. Fr. Praveen Arajaniolikal, Rev. Fr. Benny Ezhormattam and Rev. Fr. Thomas Kannampilly and Rev. Fr. Lijo Mullonkal.
At present Fr. Reji John Kallely OFM Cap took charge as the Parish priest from 09th February 2017.
