The beginning of an academic year is a special occasion for a “Fresher’s get-together in the parishes and Foranes of the Eparchy of Kalyan. Kalyan Eparchy Youth (Youth) Vasai Forane, launched the academic year in a different way by conducting a Youth Retreat. The retreat took place at St. Thomas Church, Vasai E on 19th June 2016. The Forane youth director, Fr. Jomon T and Forane executives were the inspirational source who instrumentalized the event.
190 youth from different parishes of Vasai Forane participated in the retreat. The retreat started with the Eucharistic celebration followed by a spiritual talk by Fr. Robert. The talk was based on having a righteous life in this Digital Age. Fr also pointed out that, various social evils like alcoholism, drug abuse and pornography keep away the young minds from a good relation with God, humanity and nature. Further, he outlined the topics of sacramental life, marriage or unmarried life dedicated to prayer. Condemning widely prevalent practices like abortion, he asserted that life was a precious gift which was to be respected and protected. The retreat ended with adoration and hymns of praise and worship which was lead by the Vasai Forane KEY Band.
