Mary Matha Church, Bandra (W)

Mary Matha Parish at Bandra (W) was established in the year 1988, and Rev. Fr. George Vadakkethala was the first Parish Priest. Rev Fathers and faithful of St. Theresa parish, Bandra (W) shows excellent spirit of accommodation and Mary Matha parish celebrates Holy Qurbana in St. Theresa’s Church on every sunday at 10.30 am. (T. P. S. III, St Theresa Road, Bandra (W), 400050). After the Eparchy had drawn out the rules and regulations for the pastoral, parish council etc. the first parish council was constituted in 1989. This and subsequent parish council members were elected in a very cordial atmosphere and service was voluntary. In the year 1992 August, our parish was dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady and the parish Feast and parish day are being celebrated on the 15th of August every year with thanks giving Qurbana, public meeting, cultural programmes and agape. In 1994 the parish arranged a charismatic convention by the Pota Vincentian Congregation. At present there are 15 families and a number of spinsters. The nurses who work at Asian Heart hospital and The Hinduja hospital form majority of the spinster group.

The Parish Priests who served the parish are Rev. Fr. George Vadakkethala (1988-89), Rev. Fr. Vakkachan Thattuparampil MST (1989-92), Rev. Fr. Paul Madan (1992-97), Rev. Fr. Joy Kaitharam, Rev. Fr. Davis Chalissery (2002-04), Rev. Fr. Abraham Kollithadam, Rev. Fr. Baburaj Kakkassery, Rev. Fr. Tomy Nelliyani, and Rev. Fr. George Vattamattam and Fr. Mathew (Saju) Adampakallel. At present Fr. Franklin Joseph Pottananickal is the parish priest and Fr. Sinto Pulikottil  took charge as the Pro-Parish priest from 09th February 2017.
