The Syro-Malabar Catholics in and around Katraj used to travel miles to attend the Holy Qurbana. On 2nd Oct. 1984, Fr. Jose Veliyamangalam, parish priest of Dighi under the leadership of Mar Paul Chittilappilly gathered all the Syro-Malabar Catholics at the residence of Mr. Cyriac Kurian and offered Holy Qurbana. Following this, a regular mass started to be offered at Little Rock School Chapel at Balaji Nagar, which was under the protestant community. Initially a few families and nursing students from Bharti Vidyapeeth attended the Qurbana.
After the transfer of Fr. Jose Velliyamangalam, Fr. Jose Thekkumattom took charge as parish priest. After two years, Fr. Julius Arackal further strengthen the community through catechism classes, family gatherings etc.
After two years, Fr. Mathew Adambakallel, took charge. Holy Qurbana offered at the parking of the building in 2001 onwards. In 2003, we could purchase land for Church at Katraj-Kondwa road in the name of Santhome Trust. On Feb. 22, 2007, Mar Thomas Elavanal laid the foundation stone of the parish. After 6 years of service and efforts Fr. Mathew was transferred and Fr. Jaison Kootakaithayil took charge in 2007.
In 2008, Fr. Jaison got a transfer to Germany and Fr. Shiju Vattampurathu took charge as the parish priest. Thus with all sheer hard work, the dream of the Dhankawdi-Katraj Church became a reality. It was inaugurated on 7 December 2008 at 4.30 pm. The 1st Qurbana was offered by Mar Thomas Elavanal. Further the parish priests were Fr. Martin Velliyamkandathil and Fr. Soji Pezhathingal. Fr.
