Malayalee Catholics of all denominations settled in and around Orlem and Malwani were depending on the chaplains from C.M.I Congregation for their spiritual needs before the Kalyan Diocese was established. In 1988 Rev. Fr. Thomas Chirackal was appointed for this noble purpose and was staying in the Orlem church and with the establishment of the Diocese, he was appointed the first Vicar of Orlem and, Malwani Qurbana centres. Later his residence was shifted to Green Park Housing Society. During this time we started Kharodi Infant Jesus Chapel as the third Qurbana centre.
In 1992, Orlem and Malwani Qurbana centres joined together to form one parish as Malad (W) having Holy Qurbana at three centres. The main intention of this joining was to construct a common place of our own for worship.
In 1992 Rev. Fr. Thomas Chirackal was transferred and Rev. Fr. George Edakkalathur took charge. Meantime, the monthly Qurbana that we were having at the Malwani colony chapel was stopped. Rev. Fr. Joy Chitteth was the Assistant to Fr. George Edakkalathur. In 1994, Rev. Fr. Joy Chakiyan took charge as the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Babu Kakkassery was the Assistant. During their tenure the plot of 17 gundas was purchased in the Rajput marble market. Thereafter, Rev. Fr. Paul Arakkal was in-charge for a few months. In 1997 Rev. Fr. George Porathur took charge. During his period the preliminary work like fund raising programmes started for the church construction. In 2001, Rev. Fr. Jose Edakkalathur came as the parish priest and in February, 2005, Rev. Fr. Biju Kollamkunnel replaced him. On 7th December 2008 the Foundation Stone for the Church was laid during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Rajesh Mathew and the same was blessed on Nov. 22nd 2009 by Mar Thomas Elavanal. This community was erected to the status of a Parish on 30th September 2012. We gratefully remember the priests who served us. They are Rev. Fr. Thomas Chirakkal, Rev. Fr. George Edakkalathur, Rev. Fr. Joy Chitteth (Assistant Vicar), Rev. Fr. Joy Chakkiyan, Rev. Fr. Babu Kakkassery (Assistant Vicar), Rev. Fr. Paul Arakkal, Rev. Fr. George Porathur, Rev. Fr. Jose Edakkalathur, Rev. Fr. Biju Kollamkunnel, Rev. Fr. Rajesh Mathew, Rev. Fr. Benny Thanninilkumthadathil and Fr. Biju Chittilapilly. At present Fr. Jose Kokkopuzha is the parish priest.
