Till 1989 Syro-Malabar catholics residing in Boisar were depending on Latin rite services. Rev. Fr. Varghese Nadakkal, priest in-charge of Vasai centre visited Boisar in 1989 and about 20 families were identified and organized. In those days, an old hall in TAPS colony which was under the Christian fellowship, a group comprising of all other Christian denominations was used as church.
St. Mary’s centre, Boisar under the Diocese of Kalyan was formed in January 1990 and celebrated Syro-Malabar Qurbana in Malayalam for the first time by Rev. Fr. Varghese Nadakkal. He used to reach the centre for Qurbana on every 2nd Saturday. The membership of the centre increased and it became more active during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Jose Ainikkal CMI and masses were also conducted on 3 Saturdays in a month.
Bishop Paul Chittilapilly visited the centre on 16-01-1991 for the first time. Regular Qurbana on every Saturday started by Rev. Fr. Paul Thiruvanmoola. The renovation of the church was done during this time. Rev. Sisters from Vasai used to conduct catechism classes. The centre established three family units in 1996 when Rev. Fr. Davis Thattil was the centre in-charge and Rev. Fr. Francis Eluvathingal was the assistant priest.
Regular Sunday Qurbana in the evening started on 28-11-1998 at the time of Rev. Fr. Kurian Kunnumpuram. With the initiative of Fr. Kurian Kunnampuram and Fr. Jaison Vadakkethala and the efforts of the members, a flat was purchased at Shanti Nagar. The place is being used as resting for priests who used to come from Mumbai. St. Mary’s church, Boisar published a directory at the time of Rev. Fr. Joy Kalliath. Mathrusangham unit was established in 2007 when Rev. Fr. Davis Challissery was in-charge of the centre. A plot under MAHDA was purchased in 2012 in Boisar for a place of worship of our own. The efforts put in by the members under the able leadership of Fr. Paul Kunduparambil, Fr. Jaison Kollannur, Fr. Liju Keettikkal and Fr. Siby Kulangara are praiseworthy. Rev. Fr. Siby Kulangara took charge of the centre on 01-02-2012 as the first resident parish priest. Later, Rev. Fr. Nixon Pallan served as the parish priest. Fr. Soji Pezhathinkal took charge as the parish priest from 09th February 2017.
