In the year 1984 itself the Pioneer Shepherd Rev. Fr. Paul Kadicheeni CMI initiated the formation of the Eucharistic Community in Malad area. The Syro-Malabar Prayer Community was devoted to Mother Mary. It was in the month of May in 1987 our present Vicar General Very Rev. Msgr. Jacob Porathur was appointed as the in charge of pastoral work in and around Malad East. St. Mary’s Church got its first ever Parish Priest in the person of Rev. Fr. Thomas Chirackal on the 15th of September 1988. In 1989 on the 29th of June Rev. Fr. Paul Kadicheeni CMI was appointed as the Parish Priest.
Along with Fr. Paul, Fr. John Paliakara CMI was also appointed as the Assistant Parish Priest. In 1989 on the 20th of June Rev. Fr. Joshy Kattookaran CMI was appointed as the Asst. Parish Priest. In 1991 Fr. John Paliakara CMI took over as the Parish priest on the 29th of June. Rev. Fr. Paul Kadicheeni was appointed again in 1993 as the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Saju Vadakumpadan CMI was appointed the Asst. Parish Priest on 20th of June in the same year. In 1999 on the 17th of December Rev. Fr. Jose Ainikkal was appointed the Asst. Parish Priest who ably assisted Fr. Paul to acquire a plot for the church in Kurar Village. Under the paternal guidance of the Parish Priest, St. Mary’s Church Parish Council Members managed to purchase a plot at Konkani Pada near Triveni Nagar, Kurar Village, Malad East in 1998 of which the subsequent registration process was done on 23rd January 1999. On the 24th of April 2000, Rev. Fr. George Kuttikatt was appointed as Asst. Parish Priest.
It was in the year 2007 on the 11th of June our present Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Benni Pengiparambil was appointed. The newly appointed Parish Priest joined hands with Parish council members to plan further for the proposed church building. Rev. Fr. Tenny who was ordained in the same year continued to help the Parish Priest. In the year 2008, 16th June, on the feast day of Mount Carmel, the foundation stone was laid by Mar Thomas Elavanal.
When the construction activities were underway, celebration of Holy Qurbana, Catechism classes, Parish Meetings, Youth Meetings and all the other Parish activities were held in the premises of St. George High school, Malad East. The Parish remains always grateful to CMI Priests and CSC Sisters for their kind gesture to let us use their premises.
On the 1st of November 2009 the long cherished dream of the parishioners was shaped into a reality. The Church was blessed by Mar Thomas Elavanal. The inaugural ceremony was attended by the then Major Arch Bishop Late Major Mar Varkey Vithayathil in the presence of Rev. Fathers, former Parish Priests, Sisters, Parishioners and all the wellwishers. There are currently different associations and movements undertaken by St. Mary’s Church, like Sunday school, Matrusangam, Pithruvedi, Youth, Jesus’ Kids, Karunya Trust etc.
Later, the priests who served our parish are: Fr. John Paul Kollanur.
At present Fr. Tenny Parakka CMI is our parish priest and Fr. Sijesh Vathukadan CMI is the Assistant Parish Priest.
