Syro-Malabar Chaplains from Pune would come and offer Holy Qurbana in Malayalam in Holy Cross Church, Nasik. On 17th September 1987, the then Msgr. Fr. Paul Chittilappilly and Fr. Thomas Thalachira visited Nashik and with the help of Rev. Fr. Saldhana, Vicar of Holy Cross Church, Nasik, they celebrated Holy Qurbana with which the Syro Malabar community was officially initiated.
In January 1989, Rev. Fr. Peter Kavumpuram, the successor of Rev. Fr. Thobias, served for a month following which Rev. Fr. Sebastian Vazhapally took charge. Rev Fr. Vazhapally was transferred to Dhulia, Jalgaon on 15th July. Henceforth Rev. Fr. Peter Kavumpuram officially took charge as Parish Priest. During this same period i.e. 1989, a plot was purchased at Sinnar. On 20th January 1989, under the leadership of Rev. Sister Scholastica, the sisters of Sacred Heart came to Nasik and helped in the spiritual development of the congregation. On 17th April, 1990 the sisters rented a place in Manohar market where they started Sacred Heart School and every parishioners participated in the Syro Malabar Holy Qurbana.
Due to the initiative of Rev Fr. Peter Kavumpuram, a place was purchased in Wadala Road on 27th August, 1989. During these days, Holy Qurbana was offered in Yeola, Chandwad, Lasalgaon, Satana, Ghoti, Igatpuri, Sinnar, Ozar, and Deolali in Syro-Malabar Rite. Mar. Paul Chitillippilly consecrated St Mary’s Church on 15th November, 1992. From July 1993 to 31st January 1995, Rev. Fr. George Kavukattu MST and from February 1995 to 1998, Rev. Fr. Joy Punnakuzhi served this community with their ardent missionary spirit. Rev. Fr. George Chollanal served as Parish Priest from March 1998 to January 2000; Rev Fr. George Thuppalengiyil was his successor from February 2001 to February 2003.Thereafter Rev. Fr. Shibu Pulickal was appointed as Parish Priest of Nasik. In 2004 the plot at Sinnar was sold and an 800 sq.ft. flat close to the Sinnar city was purchased in the name of Santhome Trust Kalyan. On 22nd May 2009, the grotto of Mother Mary was consecrated by Mar. Thomas Elevanal. Rev. Fr. Mathew Moothasery served from June 2005 to May 2006 and Rev. Fr. Fransis Perumadan served from June 2006 onwards. In May 2009, Rev Fr. Mathew Adampakallel took charge as Parish Priest and completed the work of the Parish Hall and renovated the Madbaha. Rev. Fr. Shiju Vattampurath was appointed as Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church on 31st May 2012. St. Mary’s nursery school at Sinnar commenced on 16th July 2012. We fondly remember Rev. Fr. Fransis John, Rev. Fr. Cyriac Chandrankunnel, Rev. Fr. Zacharias Neelankavil, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kadankavil, Rev. Fr. Sunny Perumpuzha, Rev. Fr. Benny Ezhormattam, Rev. Fr. Johny Kattuppara, Rev. Fr. Shibu Pulickal, Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kalamparambathu, Rev. Fr. Davis Tharakan, Rev. Fr. Biju Kollamkunnel, Rev. Fr. Paul Kunduparambil, Rev. Fr. Jaison Koottakithayil, Rev. Fr. Siju Kizhakepallivathukal, Rev. Fr. Shinto Vallanattu, Rev. Fr. Jitto Thengumpallil, Rev. Fr. Binoy Kannanaikkal, Rev. Fr. Liju Keettikkal, Rev. Fr. Nixon, who served as the Assistant Vicars. At present Rev. Fr. Davis Chalisserry is the parish priest.
This community which is flourishing with the intercession of Mother Mary has 84 families in St. Mary’s Church. The Novena to Infant Jesus on every Thursday, adoration on every Friday, Novena to Mother Mary on Saturday recitation of the holy rosary in front of the grotto by the pithruvedi are the reasons for the spiritual growth of the congregation.
