The formation of Malayali catholic community in Kalina began with the formation of Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) in 1959. On regular basis from 1959 onwards priests from various religious congregations such as OFM (Cap), CMI, MST and St. Paul society celebrated Mass at Our Lady of Egypt church, Kalina. The Syro Malabar community at Kalina was blessed with Santhome Centre at CST Road, a property bought by the Syro Malabar Bishop’s Conference as an office for coordinating the activities of Syro Malabar Catholics even before the inception of the Eparchy of Kalyan. On 14th May 1987, a team of priests headed by Rev. Msgr. Paul Chittilapilly together with Rev. Frs. Jacob Porathur, George Edakalthur and George Vadakethala came to Sathome centre. Kalina community had the fortune of having Dr. Paul Chittilapilly as its Chaplain for one year before his Episcopal Ordination. After the inception of the eparchy of Kalyan, Santhome centre was turned out to be the first Bishop’s house. Rev. Fr. Anthony Kollannur was appointed as the first vicar of Kalina parish on 25th August, 1988. Rev. Fr. George Vadakkethala was appointed as his successor on 15th July, 1989. The eparchy of Kalyan together with the parishioners bought a place of worship at Kalina Kalina Zone village on 26th July,1993 and the foundation stone for the church was laid on 3rd July, 1996 by Mar Paul Chittilapilly. Construction of the church was done under the leadership of Rev. Fr. George Vadakethala. Mr. Jacob Pullan and Mr. Anthony Pattathu played a crucial role in the construction of the church.
The constructed St. Thomas church was blessed and consecrated by Mar Thomas Elavanal on 13th December, 1998. An eparchial adoration Centre has been setup in St. Thomas church in order to mark the Eucharistic year in 2005 which was inaugurated by Mar Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil, the Major Archbishop of the Syro Malabar church on 18th Dec, 2004. Holy Relic of Saint Faustina was kept in the church for veneration at the hands of Mar Thomas Elavanal on 18th June, 2011. Mar George Alencherry the head of the Syro Malabar Church visited the church and the parish in July, 2011.
At present there are one sixty-eight families and the parish consists of eleven family units Every day morning 7.15 there is Holy Qurbana in English followed by adoration till 6.45 p.m. There is Holy Qurbana in Malayalam at 7.00 p.m. daily. St. Thomas parish at Kalina moves forward in union with Kalyan diocese under the protection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Davis Tharakan, Rev. Fr. Tomy Nelliyani (resident priest), Rev. Fr. Franklin Joseph, Rev. Fr. Manoj, Rev. Fr. Shaju Kottarathil, Rev. Fr. Jaison Kollannur, Rev. Fr. Jerry Maleparambil, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kusumalayam, Rev. Fr. Sinto Chaliserry, Rev. Fr. Jefrin Thomas Pallithara, Rev. Fr. Binoy Alappatt CMF, Rev. Fr. Liju Irittakuzha and Rev. Fr. Shijo Parayil, Fr. Shinto Vallanattu, Fr. Aneesh Makkiyil. At present Rev. Fr. Franklin Joseph Pottananickal is the parish priest and Rev. Fr. Sinto Antony Pulikkottil is the assistant parish Priest.
