To inspire and motivate the children, even the teachers needed orientation. The Catechism teachers of the Borivali, Malad and Vasai Foranes were gathered at the St. Thomas Church, Mira Road on 31st of July for the Orientation seminar. More than 120 teachers gathered at the venue in spite of heavy rain.
The day began with the celebration of Holy Mass by the Parish Vicar Fr. Benny and followed by an interactive session by Mr. Antony Varghese. The session was answer to the following questions: “How are you as teachers going teach in the class and what are the techniques that can be used in teaching?” “Who and why are we Catechists?”, and “What do we need to know as Catechists?” In the thought provoking session Mr. Antony described the Catechists are as the Leaders who guide, empower, share and work towards the common goal. The session ended with a challenging question, can the Catechists be a SPARK (Support, Practice, Appreciate, Reach Out and be Kind) with our students? The day ended with the brief by Fr. Sheen, director of Catechists, on how we could improve the faith in the children, by helping in molding their habits and attitudes.
